2009 was a year of divorces, love, and big hits in Country music. 2009 was also a year of deaths. On June 25, 2009 the King of Pop Michael Jackson died from a drug overdose. Other deaths this year included Actress Brittany Murphy, Billy Mays (the commercial guy), NFL Player Steve McNair and Senator Ted Kennedy. Also this year we suddently lost our own former President of All About Music company, Claire Gillliwinsky.

After a year long relationship, on December 21st Country music's girl Carrie Underwood announced that she is engaged to Hockey Player Mike Fisher. The couple plans to get married sometime in the summer. Carrie released her 3rd album Play On on November 3rd and it is still in Billboard's Top 5 Hot 200. In the album, Carrie thanked #12 for everything and told Ellen, "He is the longest relationship I have had."

2009 was Taylor Swift's year but more came in November! Taylor started November off winning 4 CMA Awards including Female Vocalist and Entertainer Of The Year. Later on in the month she released Fearless: Platinum Edition that went up and marked the album sales Quadruple Platinum which named it Billboard's #1 Album of 2009. In the end of November Taylor won 5 American Music Awards including Best Artist. Taylor sure made her way this year along with her Fearless tour also.

In June 2009, rumors swirled that LeAnn Rimes was cheating on husband, Dean McClister with her Lifetime movie co-star. The couple split in June and announced in December that they will remain good, caring friends but will not continue their marriage. They were married for 7 years and Dean directed many of LeAnn's music videos.
